An impressive blue wave washed over the country yesterday, and with it comes some hope. It’s undoubtedly a turning point, and there are lessons to be learned for those who choose to pay attention.
I know there are some big tasks ahead, and some big frustrations. Progress will be slower and bumpier than we want, and some of the roadblocks will be unnecessary. Some of the cleanup and damage control will take years at best, and some won’t go smoothly. Some Democrats are going to insist on being spinless, wishy-washy centrists, sycophants of billionaires, transphobes, racists, or all of the above. Some Republicans will continue to get in the way for no reason other than the team sport aspect of politics. Some people who should be behind bars will go free.
But undoubtedly, 2027 and the future beyond it will be better than if MAGA had held on.
