And the recording phase of another album is wrapped. It managed to acquire its own theme pretty early on, and I acknowledged that with a name change. It’s now Codex rather than Index, and it leans into spookiness.
Speaking of which, Halloween was kind of a bust. Rain kept the trick-or-treaters away for the most part, and even over at my parents’ place where they tend to get a bit more than our house, there were less than 10 kids. Oh well.
I’ve seen my first Black Friday ad already, from a software developer. At least it came with an announcement for a software update for something I already have, though. This season might be a little quieter without KVR’s relentless barrage of Black Friday deal stuff, but other sites track them or list the “best” of them or whatever as well.
I DNF’d Tiny Experiments, because it struck me as just too formal for my tastes. It might be good for the kind of people who like Bullet Journals or whatever. And again, I don’t really need help not getting caught up in that sort of linear ambition. So now I’m about halfway through The Secret Life of Cemeteries, which is much more to my liking. The curator of the famous Père-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris writes about the trend toward more wildlife-friendly cemeteries, growing up with death (in a family whose business was vaults and tombstones), the history and art of the cemetery, what it’s like dealing with both tourists and mourners, etc.
With all the attempts at food changes, different probiotics, etc. Rico has still been having his digestive issues, so I relented and we took him to the vet on Thursday. We’re waiting on lab results, but meanwhile the vet prescribed metronidazole pills. It’s an antibiotic that also has anti-inflammatory and anti-diarrhea properties. That gave me a little hope… but he rejected his first dose (which I’d attempted to crush and mix with his Churu). He had no trouble with the second one, hidden in a catnip-flavored Pill Pocket (after giving him a couple of empty ones to give him the idea it was a treat). But last night he was a little more cautious about them, and when he got the one with the pill he made a really nasty face and managed to spit it out. I tried rescuing the two broken bits and giving him them with a pill shooter but no luck. Hopefully tonight’s efforts go better…
I also had the bright idea of adding a second litterbox, and so far he’s managed to avoid going on the bed or floor. So that’s at least some relief for us, if not really for him.
